About Me
I'm a 40 something stay-at-home-mom to three beautiful, albeit sometimes challenging kids. My eldest (DR) is 16, my eldest daughter (DM) is 13, and my littlest daughter (Little D) is 4.
I've been married to Dh for 20 years now. It's difficult to believe it's been that long! And for the entire time, I've been a military spouse in one form or another. Whether it be the Navy, the National and Air Guards, or the Army, I've seen it... Why, he only has the Coast Guard and Marines to go, and he'll have seen time in all of the branches! I don't see that coming, though. I'd have to choke him. :-) In less than three years, he'll retire and then, we - as a family - are DONE!
My interests include... Well, blogging, of course, but beyond that I LOVE to write. Blogs, memoirs, fiction, fan fiction... you name it, I enjoy it. EXCEPT school papers. I'd be lying, if I said I enjoy that. :-)
Beyond that? I'm a very down to earth person. At least, I think so. I enjoy the simple things in life, and while I cannot say that I'm a very religious person, I am a very spiritual one. AND... that - in my mind, at least - is what it's all about. One's connection to ALL That Is.

About this blog
When this blog was first conceived, I had planned for it to be a space where I would share the experiments that I undertake as I and my family return to a more simple way of life. Since then, however, I have realized that - for me, at least - a return to simplicity encompasses so much more than the deeds done. For me, simplicity is a way of be-ing - mind, body, and soul. This blog will encompass all three areas...
So, if you are looking for giveaways... Well, I am sorry to disappoint. If you're looking for reviews. Likely, I'll be doing a bit of that. Books... perhaps some products, but not in the traditional sense. Instead, I'll be sharing practical reviews, how they relate to me, my family, or my life.

Members of the Family Circle:
DH ("Darling Hubby") - Dawna's best friend and other half. The man she's been married to for nearly twenty years now. With already 21 years of combined service in the Armed Forces, his career includes Active Duty and Reserve time in the Navy, National Guard, Air National Guard, and he is currently serving in the Army with only 3 years to go until retirement.
DR - Dawna's 16 year old son, a sensitive soul that while a little more rounded is still, like his parents before him, something of a square peg in the round hole that is the social norm.
DM - Dawna's 13 year old daughter. A social butterfly, she and her elder brother couldn't be any more different. Sports oriented, she is also does rather well academically. Where her brother finds solace in quiet reflection, she finds it in being active and with others.
LD ("Little D") - Dawna's (almost) 4 year old daughter. A combination of her two elder siblings, she is a bright light within the family. She is quite intelligent and witty for one so young.
The Menagerie - The Family Circle also has quite a few fur-babies as a part of their tribe. Harry, a 10 year old Black Lab/Golden Retriever, two felines (Loki and Mac), a hamster (Daisy - aka The Clown Princess), and two rats (Ink and Mark). This isn't even taking into consideration the fin-babies, which their big puppy loves to sit and watch.
